Every Monday we ask AI assistants the same 72 questions that buyers ask about PR software and AI visibility tools, and count which tools they name. The PR software AI index started on 13 October with Agentcy 74th of 77, named in one answer. Last week it was 26th, named in 14. This is week three.
The numbers
| Run | Assistants scored | Answers | Answers naming Agentcy | Agentcy's rank | Answers citing agentcy.com.pr |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 13 Oct (baseline) | 5 | 357 | 1 | 74th of 77 | 1 |
| 20 Oct | 5 | 349 | 14 | 26th of 76 | 11 |
| 27 Oct | 6 | 420 | 24 | 21st of 72 | 24 |
Google AI Mode answered for the first time this week, after failing in both earlier runs, so all six assistants were scored. More assistants means more answers, so here is the fair comparison: on the five assistants scored last week, Agentcy was named in 21 of 348 answers, up from 14 of 349. Of this week's 24, ChatGPT gave 11, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews 4 each, AI Mode 3 and Grok 2. Gemini named Agentcy in none, for the third week running.
What we changed
Last week showed a clear pattern. We were named on questions with a one-line factual answer, such as a free plan's limits or a per-client price, and missing from every question about what Agentcy is for. So on 21 October we published a guide, how a PR agency can offer AI visibility tracking to its clients, and rewrote the opening lines of our AI visibility, agencies, media database, PR reporting and in-house comms pages to say plainly what Agentcy does. We added PRCoverage, the tool that won our core question last week, to our AI visibility tools comparison, and added a list of the best PR software for each kind of team to our PR software comparison.
Recommended, not just cited
Last week, 8 of Agentcy's 14 answers recommended it and 6 only used one of our pages as a source. This week it is 14 recommendations and 10 citations. The new recommendations:
- Which PR software is priced per client for agencies? Grok, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews all name Agentcy and quote its agency price from our pricing page. Last week only Grok did. AI Overviews opens with Agentcy as one of two PR platforms "explicitly priced per client account for agencies".
- Which PR tool tracks AI visibility as well as media coverage? Grok lists Agentcy beside PRCoverage and Meltwater as "a PR platform designed for agencies" that tracks AI visibility "in the same interface as media monitoring, journalist CRM, and coverage reports", citing the new guide. It's the question closest to what we do, and the first answer to it that names us.
- Is there an open-source AI visibility tracker an agency could run itself? Perplexity and Google AI Mode both name Agentcy's open-source AI visibility module.
- How can a PR agency offer AI visibility tracking to its clients? Google AI Overviews built its answer on the new guide, down to the 25 to 50 buyer questions and the four things to report each month, and mentions Agentcy's open-source tracker. Google AI Mode cited the guide four times but didn't name Agentcy as a tool.
- How do PR agencies do newsjacking at scale across many clients? Google AI Overviews names Agentcy as an example of the monitoring tools agencies use.
- Which PR tools can I sign up for myself without a sales call? Google AI Mode joins Perplexity in naming the free plan.
Last week's wins mostly held. ChatGPT still puts Agentcy first for free PR software with a journalist database, and Perplexity now names it there too. ChatGPT still lists it for agency client logins, and Perplexity still names the free plan.
What we lost
Google AI Overviews no longer names Agentcy for "Which PR software has a free plan?". Perplexity and AI Overviews both dropped it from "Which PR software do UK B2B tech PR agencies use?", where only a ChatGPT citation remains. Assistants don't give the same answer twice, and two or three answers moving either way is within that noise. We'll see whether they come back.
Still missing
Two of the four questions we set out to win still don't recommend Agentcy. "Which AI visibility tools have agency plans or per-client pricing?" went to Semrush and Peec AI, each named in four of five answers, and to Profound. "What tools do PR agencies use to manage media monitoring, pitching and reporting in one place?" went to Muck Rack, Meltwater and Prowly in all six answers; ChatGPT cited one of our pages there but recommended them.
On the core question, "Which PR tool tracks AI visibility as well as media coverage?", the field opened up. PRCoverage, named in all five answers last week, was in two of six this week; Muck Rack was in five. Eight of the ten citation-only answers are ChatGPT, reading our cost, comparison and journalist database pages while recommending other tools.
Sources
agentcy.com.pr was cited in 24 answers, up from 11, which made it the 11th most-cited site in the run. The new guide and the homepage were cited in four answers each, followed by the UK media monitoring comparison and the free PR software guide with three each. No answer cited the index page, so it isn't counting itself. Across the run, muckrack.com was cited most (70 answers, up from 47), then prezly.com (65) and meltwater.com (44).
The rest of the table
Muck Rack stayed first with 197 answers, ahead of Cision (187) and Meltwater (163), then Prowly, Semrush and Prezly: the same top six in the same order. Google AI Mode's first answers put the same three at the top. On the five assistants scored both weeks, PR Newswire (32 to 42), Roxhill (23 to 32) and Peec AI (30 to 38) rose most, while Onclusive (35 to 20), PR.co (26 to 17) and Featured (19 to 10) fell. With three weeks of data, treat those as movement to watch, not trends.
What we take from it
- A page written to answer one question can be used within a week. The new guide was published on 21 October and cited in four answers on 27 October. Assistants that search the web pick up a clear, specific page quickly.
- Say plainly what you are. Grok's description of Agentcy is close to a sentence in the guide it cited. Assistants repeat what you say about yourself when it is plain and checkable.
- Narrow questions move first. Every new recommendation is on a specific question. Broad ones, such as "pr agency software", still go to the big platforms.
- One assistant can ignore you entirely. Gemini hasn't named Agentcy in three weeks while the other five have. Look at each assistant separately, because the total hides it.
Next week
We're working on the questions still missing: agency pricing for AI visibility, the all-in-one agency question, and getting Agentcy onto the third-party "best PR tools" lists the assistants read most. The next run is on 3 November, and the index will show the result whatever it is.
